Alicia Keys: Homewrecker?
Alicia Keys is not a home-wrecker despite rumors that she broke up hip-hop artist Swizz Beatz’s marraige, Beatz tells Usmagazine.com.
“I can no longer ignore the harmful rumors, that my friend Alicia Keys is in any way linked to my marital circumstances or to the decision that [my wife] Mashonda and I have made to separate,” Beatz, Grammy Award-winning producer, tells Us.
“I am disappointed that some have chosen to try and tarnish Alicia’s reputation by irresponsibly implicating her in a situation that she has absolutely nothing to do with,” Beatz, a father of two, says.
“This experience has been one of the most difficult times in my life, and as was stated when we announced our separation several months ago, I ask that you continue to respect my privacy in dealing with this personal matter,” Beatz tells Us.
Beatz has worked with Keys, Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey, Lil’ Kim and Eve among others.

My thoughts? Well, when Alicia first came onto the scene, I always assumed her producing partner, Crucial Keys was her brother. Then I was told that he’s actually her boyfriend (and then later, her husband). Alicia Keys has ALWAYS stayed mum on her personal love life. And rightly so. She was told by Oprah (holla!) herself to keep her love life under wraps. Because of this, though, Alicia has had to dodge rumours of dalliances with Common and even WOMEN. Alicia Keys has long rumoured to be a closet lesbian. So, in light of this situation with Swizz, I wonder if a relationship will be confirmed between her and whomever in order to side step the rumours. Alicia Keys rarely has bad press. I mean, personally, this is the ONLY time I can think of where her name has been in the media in a negative light. I’m curious as to how her people will play this out. Considering Swizz Beatz isn’t a major name in MAINSTREAM media, they may be best to let sleeping dogs lie and ride it out but if it catches on, they’ll have to do damage control.
Hmm.
UPDATE: Apparently, Mashonda says that Alicia Key’s threw Swizz a birthday party and introduced him as “the man of the hour” and “my boo”. Mashonda also says Alicia joined Swizz on tour recently and she found steamy messages from Alicia on Swizz’s blackberry. Stay tuned!
UPDATE #2 (May 29, 2010): I guess I should update given the latest news on this issue as well as the 200+ views I had yesterday on this post. Y’all want info huh!? I haven’t followed this closely but since this original post in 2008, the relationship between Alicia & Swizz has been confirmed. The latest rumours are NOW that Alicia is pregnant with Swizz’s baby and with this latest piece of news, her integrity is coming into question. You cannot help who you love and fall in love with but Alicia has gone about this all wrong. I won’t even talk about Swizz because he’s bullshit anyway (3 kids, 3 different baby moms – Alicia that’s not a red flag for you?) but I just feel like Alicia always seemed to have more class than this. I guess it goes to show you that celebs are NOT any more different from you or I. They just have money and fame. They still make bad decisions and judgements on real life situations just like we do. Even stupid ones. In any event, I don’t want to comment on whether or not Alicia broke up a HAPPY home or if she came into the picture AFTER Mashonda and Swizz separated. NO ONE really knows what happened in this triangle but the parties involved. If Swizz and Mashonda were legitimately separated then leave Alicia alone. If she stepped in and caused the separation, then Alicia is a bitch and so is KARMA. Either way, what they eat doesn’t make me shit so this is the last update I’ll be making on this post.
