I’m Published!!! :::: Michael Jackson For the Soul: A Fanthology

31 January 2011 at 4:59 pm (Book Reviews, Campaigns, Celebrity, Entertainment, Movies, Music, Raves, Thank You's) (, , , , , , )

Some of you may remember that roughly just over a year ago I was approached by someone on here to publish my written piece on Michael Jackson.

When Michael Jackson passed on June 25, 2009 the entire WORLD mourned and there was a collective gasp of shock. I immediately took to my blog to write about what he meant to me. To my childhood. And what he meant to humanity as a whole.

A bit later a woman by the name of Lorette Luzajic wrote me expressing interest in my piece and wanted to know if I’d be interested in submitting it to a project she was going to be working on. She was compiling a “fanthology” of written works on the late King of Pop by bloggers, writers and fans such as myself.

I was of course, flattered and honoured to be included and told her I would LOVE to be a part of this. On January 9, 2011, I received an email saying the book was finished and ready. I haven’t received my copy as yet, so I can’t do a book review but as soon as I do, I will definitely be doing a write-up. I just wanted to share this with you all so that you may show love and support and purchase your own copy.

The book is available for purchase on Amazon.com. please click >>> here <<< to buy it now! It’s only $20.00 and $1 donations from each book sold will be going to the Kids Help Phone, keeping in spirit with Michael Jackson’s legacy and love for the children of the world.

Thank you, Lorette, for working so diligently to get this book completed. I also  thank you for including me in such a special project. Also, many thanks to Eliza Lo for the beautiful front cover artwork.

We still miss you, Michael. I hope your family and fans will find justice.

[Music]: *NEW* Britney Spears – Hold It Against Me

10 January 2011 at 7:49 pm (Downloads, Entertainment, Heavy Rotation, Music, Raves) (, , , , , )

The ‘net is ablaze with word that the new single for Britney Spears’ 7th studio album has been released.

The STILL Princess of Pop has had people wondering when in January it was going to drop and a few days ago it was confirmed today or tomorrow would be the day.

I’m a HUGE Britney fan and I’ve stuck by her through all her trials and tribulations. I love the new sound they’re going with production wise and I’m SO glad she’s back. Anxiously waiting her album release.

It’s Britney BITCH.

EDIT: Sorry, guys, I had the video/DL link but youtube is on a rampage LOL! They’ve ALREADY taken the video down. Thank goodness I was able to get the track first! You’re going to have to do some digging. It’s out there tho 😉 Happy hunting!

[Video]: Marsha Ambrosius – Far Away

5 January 2011 at 5:51 pm (Entertainment, Heavy Rotation, Music, Raves, Videos) (, , , )

I ADORE this song and I’m glad the video is finally here. It may be looked at as controversial but I LOVE it – I DONT CARE! It’s sad but its REAL. I love her for doing this because it shows that gay love is still just that – LOVE. You can’t help who you love and I think she’s amazing for shedding light on a relevant topic happening right now in society. Marsha looks BEAUTIFUL in it, too! LOVE the hair, girl!

Big News! Suge Knight Arrested For the Death Of Tupac Shakur

29 December 2010 at 8:14 pm (Celebrity, Music, News, WTF!?) (, , , , , , , , )

UPDATE: Apparently this video is fake. I thought it was weird because of the 2 different news stories but I figured it was just bad editing on the part of the person that uploaded it. SMH. People have way too much time on their hands =/

This story is still developing but watch this:

Be sure to check back for updates! If this is true, they can go on ahead and throw the book at Suge Knight. Far as I’m concerned he didn’t just kill Pac, he killed hip hop.

R.I.P To the Legendary & Soulful Ms. Teena Marie

26 December 2010 at 9:59 pm (Celebrity, Entertainment, Music, Throwbacks, WTF!?) (, , , , , , , )

This story is still developing. Please check back.

May her family and loved ones be embraced by God’s love at this time. God bless her. Rest in Peace, homegirl.

UPDATE:

(CNN) — Teena Marie, a celebrated R&B singer-songwriter, was found dead Sunday at her California home, her manager said.

Born Mary Christine Brockert in Santa Monica, California, the 54-year-old artist famously paired with late funk legend Rick James and was nominated four times for a Grammy Award, according to her official website.

Marie was found dead by her daughter after apparently dying in her sleep, manager Mike Gardner said.

“Teena was a black voice trapped in a white body,” said Cathy Hughes, founder of Radio One, a broadcasting company that targets African-American and urban listeners. “I would always tell her that she was one of the greatest vocalists of our time.”

Among her songs were “Lovergirl,” “Portuguese Love,” “Ooo La La La,” and “I’m a Sucker for Your Love.”

While no cause of death has been released, the singer’s publicist Lynn Jeter said that Marie suffered a grand mal seizure — a neurological event, marked by loss of consciousness and violent muscle contractions, according to the Mayo Clinic — a month ago.

“Luckily, someone was there,” Jeter said of that seizure. “The ambulance took her to the hospital, and on the way she had another seizure.”

The publicist said that she had a “great” conversation on Saturday with Marie, who told her that she was excited about heading to Atlanta to perform this week — in what would have been her first performance since the seizure.

Marie sang under various record labels, including Motown, Epic and Cash Money Classics, since bursting on the scene as a 19-year-old, according to her website. Her most recent album, Sapphire, features collaborations with Smokey Robinson, Kurupt and Gerald Albright.

Eddie Levert, founder of the vocal group The O’Jays, praised Marie as both a singer and mother.

“There are a lot of black people who swore by her and believed in her, as far as her music was concerned,” he said. “She was a good mom, and to me, that is saying a lot.” SOURCE

Benny ELs – This Is It

2 October 2010 at 12:07 pm (Downloads, Music, Videos) (, , , , )

Benny ELs is back with his second teaser track from his mixtape, Industry Meltdown, dropping any day now. This time he goes in over one of the most respected beats in hip hop, Camp Lo‘s “Luchini”. He’s got a crazy original flow which is the main thing that’s got me itching for more tracks off his mixtape, as he moves seamlessly from chopping up syllables with the beat, to going in double time with a tongue-twisting bar, but then slows it up for a catchy hook on the chorus.  SOURCE

Submission – The Five One – Mandatory

2 October 2010 at 12:01 pm (Downloads, Music, Videos) (, , , , , , , , )

The homie, Reggie, submitted this. I like it. It’s different but good. My foot was tapping 😉 I like this. I love the colours, the people, the way it’s filmed. Great song.

Music Video: Directed and Produced by The Five One

The Five One’s influences range from legendary rock/pop artists to the most iconic figures in hip-hop culture. If you had to define their sound you would have to imagine The Beatles rapping over a punk song made by Bob Marley. Although their sound is refreshing, the most meaningful aspect behind The Five One is their concept. Revalulion [rev-uh-loo-lee-n], is the action of personifying oneself as a color, which is a philosophical term coined by the band. The members of The Five One Red, Blue, Green, and Gold, have simplified themselves from the complexities of societal identity by becoming colors.
